Tuesday 18th May - walk *** - The Grove, Felixstowe – sunny warm morning with showery, cool afternoon.

Woke to wall to wall sunshine, warm too but had things to do today so could not go far, although it would have been perfect for a bike ride this morning. Still made the most of the day, I did my exercises in the sunny back garden while Mag walked up the town to pick up her very lovely new glasses and buy me a local paper as I have a pic of the fantastic wood pecker we saw in the Grove at the weekend. We are visiting an elderly friend this afternoon so decided to take our tuna pasta again to The Grove but sadly it had clouded over, cooling off and we had only walked about half a mile when it absolutely tipped it down! We managed to find some shelter but still got fairly damp and nearly came home! We decided to carry on to the Grove and sat at a bench with the horse paddocks behind us with the rain threatening all the time but the pasta was yummy and we only had a few spots! The foals in the field were as entertaining as usual but there was not much to be seen in the woods, mainly the crows and the odd squirrel. Everything was soaking wet and muddy but pretty none the less. We did our usual circuit and continued to our friend for a catch up over a cuppa before heading home arriving just before the rain arrived. After April being one of the driest months on record it is looking like May will be one of the wetest!!!!
